This was taken aboard Brian MacLeod's boat, the Grand Marnier outside Vancouver Harbour. In the summer of 1981, the Headpins had reason to celebrate - they'd just been signed to Solid Gold Records and were one of Canada's hottest new acts. Released the next year, TURN IT LOUD was quickly certified platinum and topped the charts for six straight weeks. Left to right are Bernie Aubin, Darby Mills, Ab Bryant and Brian MacLeod, with Spike looking out for sharks 'n narcs.

The Headpins have shared the stage with practically everyone who's anyone - and have become mainstays of the summer outdoor festivals.
